Is the brown trout taking over lake Thingvallavatn?

Lenti í tómum vandræðum með myndatökuna því ég var einn á ferð og gat hvergi stllt myndavélinni upp þannig að niðurstaðan varð þessi.

You will get more out of the summer if you use the time from the end of work to the evening for outdoor activities. In my case, I find it ideal to drive to lake Thingvallavatn after work. This I did last Wednesday in bright calm weather. At Thingvellir, it was a bit more cloudy,, and was a southwest breeze. Still, the weather was very nice. I parked the car in a small space above the fishing area between a place called Hlidarkrokur and Olafsdrattur. Then I walked over the rocks and through the bushes until I reached the lake. Then I got ready with my light fly rod and fished along the bank back and forth.

I was convinced there was a fish there. I felt it twice but it did not catch the fly until I tied a fly called Marfló on the tippet and cast it to the northwest towards the mountain Burfell. Then I got a catch and I felt it was a bigger fish than I had caught before in lake Thingvallavatn. It cleared itself out of the water at least twice and it looked like it was a brown trout.

That turned out to be the case because when ashore it was a four-pound brown trout. Now I wonder if something is changing in lake Thingvallavatn. This is my second trip to the lake this summer. I have caught four fishes and three of them were brown trout. Could it be that the trout stock in the water is strengthening significantly at the expense of the char?

The brown trout took the flye from the bank in the middle of the photo.

Mayflower stimulates liver function and kills intestinal worms. This is definitely good to know.
