New fishing rod and four small fishes

I went up the valley alone this weekend and the plan was to start working on the summer project. The summer project is to lay a foundation for the new Brautalæk which will be built in August if everything goes according to the plan. We really need to keep on if we are to finish in time before the builders come to build the house. I still have to take the time to fish, and of course, I brought my new fishing rod with me. The new rod replaces the one I broke at Lake Selvatn in July last year. That rod was a Sage rod with a lifetime warranty. Then months  went by one and another and the rod never came out of repair. In the end I gave up on waiting and bought an Orvis Helios 3F for line eight. That´s a fine rod. The day after the purchase, the Sage rod dealer called and told me that I could get a new Sage rod at a significant discount. The materials needed to repair the old rod were nowhere to be found. The offer was so good I couldn't refuse it so now I own two excellent fly rods for line eight.

Of course, I am cheerful. This is after all the first fish of the summer.

I went down the valley to Lake Hreðavatn in the afternoon to test my new rod. Put on a small fly, killer with a ball head. In the first cast, a small brown trout grabbed the fly. This is promising. I was also pleased to find that I truly felt the fish even though it was so small. Before I bought the rod I wondered if I should rather buy the 3D version because you can cast further with it. That is good for fishing in lakes. I decided on the 3F version because it is softer and you can feel the fish better. I think I made the right choice. I landed three Brown trouts and one Arctic char on this trip. All of them took the killer and all of them were one pound.
